Common Household Chemicals

Small Update showing some common household chemicals with their scientific names:


  • White Vinegar - Dilute Acetic Acid - CH3COOH + H2O
  • Nail polish remover - Acetone - CH3COCH3
  • Ammonia - Ammonium Hydroxide - NH4OH
  • Table Salt - Sodium Chloride - NaCl
  • Sugar - Sucrose - C12H22O11
  • Saltpeter - Potassium Nitrate - KNO3
  • Quicklime - Calcium Oxide - CaO
  • Battery Acid - Sulphuric Acid - H2SO4
  • Baking Soda - Sodium Bicarbonate - NaHCO3
  • Epsom Salts - Magnesium Sulphate - MgSO4
  • Plaster of Paris - Calcium Sulphate -  CaSO4
  • Slacked Lime - Calcium Hydroxide - Ca(OH)2
  • Chalk - Calcium Carconate - CaCO3
